Does Utah Medicaid cover incontinence supplies?

Yes, Utah Medicaid will pay for incontinence supplies when prescribed by a physician for use in treatment of urinary or fecal incontinence. These medically necessary items include diapers, disposable bed underpads, pull ups, briefs, and protective liners.

What are the requirements to receive incontinence supplies from Utah Medicaid?

Utah Medicaid covers incontinence supplies that are medically necessary to treat a patient’s condition. In order to receive incontinence supplies from UT Medicaid, you must have the following:

  • A medical diagnosis that requires incontinence supplies 
  • A signed and dated prescription documenting medical necessity
  • Quantity of incontinence supplies to be used for one month’s supply

Incontinence supplies are not covered for normal infant use. Children must be older than 3 years old to receive incontinence supplies. Members on a waiver program do not have a quantity limit. Members of the traditional Medicaid program have quantity limits of 156 incontinence products per 30 day period.
