Does Washington Medicaid cover incontinence supplies?

Yes, Washington Medicaid will pay for incontinence supplies when prescribed by a physician for use in treatment of urinary or fecal incontinence. These medically necessary items include diapers, disposable bed underpads, pull ups, briefs, gloves, and protective liners.

What are the requirements to receive incontinence supplies from Washington Medicaid?

Washington Medicaid covers incontinence supplies that are medically necessary to treat a patient’s condition. In order to receive incontinence supplies from WA Medicaid, you must have the following:

  • A medical diagnosis that requires incontinence supplies 
  • A signed and dated prescription from a licensed physician or health care provider documenting medical necessity
  • Quantity of incontinence supplies to be used for one month’s supply

Washington Medicaid will cover incontinence supplies for children over 3 years old. As of November 1, 2019, those enrolled in the Molina Apple Health (Medicaid) program must contact a preferred incontinence provider as required by Molina Healthcare in order to receive incontinence supplies.
