Connecticut Medicaid is a state administered insurance program that offers health coverage and long-term care services to low-income adults, children, pregnant women, seniors, and individuals living with disabilities. If you are enrolled in a qualifying HUSKY Health plan, you may be eligible to receive low-cost or free incontinence supplies.

What incontinence supplies are covered by Connecticut Medicaid?

Connecticut Medicaid will pay for incontinence supplies when there is a medical need for the treatment or therapy of an illness or physical condition. These medically necessary items include diapers, protective underwear, disposable underpads, bladder control pads, and reusable underwear. 

What are the requirements to receive incontinence supplies from Connecticut Medicaid?

Connecticut Medicaid covers incontinence supplies that are medically necessary in the management of incontinence associated with a broad range of medical conditions including, but not limited to, neurological conditions, congenital anomalies, injuries to the pelvic region, injuries to the spinal cord, fistula, bowel prolapse and infections. In order to receive incontinence supplies from CT Medicaid, you must have the following:

  • A medical diagnosis resulting in incontinence and signed clinical statement
  • A signed prescription from a physician identifying specific type and quantity of incontinence supplies needed
  • Complete Connecticut DSS Outpatient Prior Authorization Form is required for HUSKY A and C Members ages 3 to 12, HUSKY B Members ages 3 to 18, and any member whose request for supplies exceed the quantity limits

Connecticut Medicaid will cover incontinence supplies for children 3 years or older.
